I am working on a big project. I am going to redo the Goof's room so it has an actual theme and room feel. I have not really done it so far, because we live in an apartment, but I have decided it is time to make him feel like he has a room designed for him. In doing so, I have a lot of little projects, so you will get to see a lot of tutorials or "reveals" as I go along.
The other night, I decided to work on some little details that I plan to use in his room.
I had a 2x2 that I had taken over and had my dad cut up into blocks so I could use it for various crafts.
I actually had another craft planned out with them, but when I got 30 blocks out of my board, I realized I could do several things with them. And that is when it hit me, I could use them to make some blocks and wired photo holders to go with a specific new project I have in mind for The Goof's room.
So to start I painted the blocks, and also some wood letters.
While the blocks and letters dried, I took some 16 gauge wire I had bought at Walmart (in the craft section- $2). I used circular items to make a Mickey head for the holder part.
I used pliers to wrap the wire tight at the bottom and then ran wire down from the holder a few inches.
Next, I used a nail to start a hole in one of the wood blocks. (I am showing you the red block, even though I used the black ones, because you couldn't see the nail in the picture of the black blocks)
Don't hammer the nail all the way. About 3/4 of the way. Also, use a nail close to the same width as the wire.
Remove the nails and depending on the size of the hole versus the wire, you can either just stick the wire in, or, you can squeeze some glue in the hole and then put the wire in. My hole was perfect for the wire.
Next I used craft glue to put letters on some of the blocks and spell out Disney. Then I made a second photo holder and I was done.
Now you just have to wait and see where I plan on putting these in The Goof's new room...
